Education Kit Distribution – Khed, Ratnagiri

Education Support Warrior distributed 100 education kits to financially vulnerable students across seven ZP and private schools in Khed, Ratnagiri, addressing gaps in access to basic learning resources and on-ground educational support.

This initiative involved the distribution of 100 education kits to students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds across seven ZP and private schools in Khed, Ratnagiri. The project was undertaken in collaboration with school managements and teachers who continue to run these institutions under challenging geographical and infrastructural conditions.

During field engagement, it became evident that many students travel 4–5 kilometres daily across hilly terrain to attend school, often without access to basic facilities such as electricity, internet connectivity, clean water, sanitation, or refreshment options. Several schools, particularly ZP schools in remote areas like Devacha Dongar, face severe staff shortages, while students often come from families where parents work as daily-wage labourers in cities like Mumbai and return home infrequently.

Team ESW distributed comprehensive stationery kits that included school backpacks, notebooks, writing instruments, geometry tools, umbrellas to reduce rain-related absenteeism, and certification acknowledging the students’ efforts and commitment to education. Beyond material support, the team engaged directly with parents, teachers, and students—bridging communication gaps and reinforcing the value of education through real-life narratives delivered in the local language.

The initiative also focused on long-term impact. Students were motivated to recognise the role of discipline, moral values, and collective responsibility in shaping their futures. ESW encouraged local social reformers to envision sustainable educational development within the village and initiated mentorship follow-ups for the most vulnerable students. A peer-learning model titled Students Teach Students was introduced, enabling senior students to mentor younger peers and foster a culture of shared growth, independent of staffing limitations.

Through this project, ESW reaffirmed its commitment to providing ongoing and feasible educational support, ensuring that students are not limited by geography or resources, but empowered to build futures rooted in opportunity and community contribution.
